This year, chicken meat continues to be the most promising in the field of exports from our country.
This was announced by the Ukrainian Food Export Board (UFEB).
“During the first quarter, 103.6 thousand tons were shipped to world markets with a total value of $ 146.9 million – more than a third of all exports last year. This volume is 59% higher than the first quarter of 2017 and 38% compared to January – March 2018,” – the State Customs Service reported.
The main destination countries for the analyzed period were Saudi Arabia – 27.2% or $ 40 million, the Netherlands – 16.5% or $ 24.3 million, and Slovakia – 9.6% or $ 14.1 million.
“The situation on the import market in the first three months is directly proportional. As domestic production grows (+ 9.5%), stable domestic demand decreases in demand for imported meat and poultry by-products,” – the UFEB reported.
In general, the volume of poultry meat imports in January-March of the current year decreased by 21.3% to 30.6 thousand tons against 38.9 thousand tons. Imports in March fell by 12.4% compared with March 2018 to 9.7 thousand tons. The main supplying countries were Poland – 63% or 7.7 million dollars, Germany – 14.7% or 1.8 million dollars and Hungary – 10.2% or 1.2 million dollars.
