The local prosecutor's office of Slavyansk is taking measures of a representative nature to compensate for the harm to the environment caused by the unlawful actions of citizens.

During the investigation, it was established that in November April 2017, a resident of Kramatorsk carried out illegal cutting of trees in a forest belt of the Slavyansk region, on land owned by the state. He cut namely almost 120 oaks. As a result of these illegal actions, the state suffered material damage amounting to 637 thousand UAH.
In April 2018, the City District Court of Slavyansk, agreeing with the position of the prosecution, found the “illegal logger” guilty of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 246 (illegal cutting or illegal transportation, storage, sale of timber) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and sentenced to pay a fine to the state in the amount of 350 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, which is 5950 UAH.
Currently, the court fully satisfied the claim of the prosecutor's office in favor of the state to recover the amount of damage caused from the guilty person.
