On September 18, Mikhail Afanasyevich Pilipenko, a veteran from Konstantinovka, celebrates his 100th anniversary. The eyewitness to centuries of history, who survived deprivation, famine, World War II, devastation and the joy of Victory, despite his venerable age, has not lost his sense of humor and is still closely following the situation in the country.
On this day, his whole big family gathered at the festive table in the house of Mikhail Afanasevich - sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Representatives of the Borys Kolesnikov Fund came to congratulate the birthday man on his anniversary. He accepted gifts and congratulations from benefactors with gratitude and admitted that he was looking forward to the visit of the guests.
“Borys Kolesnikov is a wonderful person who over the years has taken care of veterans, shows respect for them and honors history. He does it not in words, but proves by deeds. I am immensely grateful to him for his attention, because at our age this is perhaps the most important and valuable thing: that you are remembered and not forgotten,” – the hero of the day shares his impressions.
The grandson Alexander and his wife Inna, who live with their grandfather, say that even in his 100 years, Mikhail Afanasyevich did not lose his strong-willed character, he cares for his wife and teaches the youth.
“We do not cease to be surprised at their experience, excellent memory and interest in everything that happens. Grandparents try to keep abreast of all the news, which they then vigorously discuss among themselves. Grandfather still reserves the right to the last word: as the head of the family decided, it means that this is absolutely necessary and must be done,” – the grandchildren admit.
While relatives were proudly talking about Mikhail Afanasyevich, the hero of the day presented his birthday bouquet of roses to his wife Elena Sidorovna and emphasized once again that this is what true love, trust and respect for each other look like.
