The Kyiv City Council’s relevant commission on transport, communications and advertising announced support for the new targeted program for the development of transport infrastructure in Kyiv for 2019-2020.
Such a statement was made by the press service of the city council.
“The corresponding program aims to introduce a new transport policy. In particular, it is planned to move away from automobile centrism and make the metropolitan infrastructure convenient primarily for people with limited mobility, pedestrians, cyclists and public transport,” – the report said.
As noted, the development of electric transport will receive priority; the plans are to combine the left-bank and right-bank tram networks.
One of the goals of the program is to change the management model of the transport infrastructure of the city. It is about introducing a system of cashless payment for public transport and electronic tickets with a significant set of tariffs. The program also includes the costs of building new metro stations.
