Tatyana Slipachuk, the Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commision, announced the start of an electoral parliamentary campaign in Ukraine from May 24, 2019.

She noted that the decree of the President Vladimir Zelensky on the dissolution of the Rada was published today in the official newspaper of the central government “Uryadovy Kuryer”. The electoral process begins the day after the publication of the decree.
"After the publication of the presidential decree on the early termination of the powers of the Verkhovna Rada and the appointment of extraordinary elections and in accordance with the law on elections of people's deputies, the electoral process of extraordinary elections of deputies begins the day after the publication of the decree, that is, on 24 May 2019 without a decision by the Central Electoral Commission on its commencement,” – she said.
She also said that the CEC is ready to ensure transparent and legitimate parliamentary elections. Slipachuk said that the public request to update the parliament had the right to be implemented in the legal framework.
“Both the President of Ukraine, the parliament, political parties and candidates who intend to participate in elections must be aware of the responsibility for the legitimacy of the electoral process and its result,” – she noted.
As you know, the newly elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada during the inauguration ceremony on May 20.
