The Cabinet of Ministers plans to divide Ukrzaliznytsia into three separate companies. This was stated by Vladislav Krikliy, the Minister of Infrastructure, in an interview with Radio Svoboda.

According to Krikliy, the government and the parliament are now working on a bill that will divide Ukrzaliznytsia into three different companies. It is planned that companies will be created that will separately deal with infrastructure, passenger and freight transportation.

“One operator will be responsible for access to infrastructure. That is, for the entire network, for electrification, to engage in capital investments in support, operation, development of the network. The second operator will be engaged in passenger transportation, which is unprofitable, problematic. And there we will put “KPI” (Key Performance Indicators), in fact, to minimize these losses, to the maximum to zero. And the third is income, which will generate revenue for the state. This is freight transportation,” – he said.

The minister added that the current head of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevgeny Kravtsov will have to choose which of the three newly created companies he will head.

“That is, the chair will be divided. Therefore, in any case, even the current leader will still have to choose where he wants to go, because these will be three different posts,” – Krikliy noted.
