Employees of the police, the National Guard and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection are monitoring the situation in the Novonikolayevsky district, where an African plague virus was discovered on a pig farm.
According to the police, the Novonikolayevsky police department of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhya region received a message from the management of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection that as a result of a study in the pathological material of pigs from one of the enterprises of Novonikolayevsky district, an African plague DNA virus was found.
Measures to control the situation and counteract the spread of the virus continue to this day.
“In order to prevent the export of animals from the territory on the road to the farm, joint police and National Guard units of Ukraine are exhibited. In particular, 15 police officers, 50 military personnel and 10 pieces of equipment were involved,” – the press service of the National Police of Zaporizhzhia region said.
It is also reported that as of the morning of September 29, 500 pigs were slaughtered, 3,500 animals were burned. The district officers worked out and examined all the households of the village.
