The leader of the OPPOSITION BLOC Yevgeniy Murayev took part in the ceremony of laying the new tanker, the third in the series, for the Dutch company VEKA.
The politician met with the workers of the shipbuilding and ship repair company "Kherson shipyard SMG", which is part of the Smart Maritime Group. The production capacities of shipbuilding enterprises make it possible to build medium and large-tonnage complete vessels with a displacement of up to 120 thousand tons, to carry out complex ship repair work. The customers of the plants are companies from Holland, Norway, Great Britain and other countries of the world.
Smart Maritime Group CEO Vasily Fedin is running for the Verkhovna Rada from the OPPOSITION BLOC in the 182th district of the Kherson region. According to him, despite the difficult times for the Ukrainian economy, in 2018 the company doubled its production volumes – sales amounted to 600 million UAH. In 2019, it plans to increase another 200 million UAH. The head of the company also informed that since the beginning of the military conflict in the east of Ukraine, the problem of placing orders at Ukrainian shipyards significantly worsened.
“Given the lack of state programs for the development of the industry, Ukrainian shipbuilders do not work thanks to preferences and support from the authorities, but rather in spite of. The lack of consistency in the state regulation of shipping and shipbuilding has aggravated the crisis and led to the bankruptcy of large enterprises in the industry,” – Yevgeniy Murayev said.
“Think about it: every workplace in shipbuilding creates eight more jobs in related industries. This is what modern Ukraine needs so much – work for highly qualified specialists who are now leaving the country abroad in thousands,” – the party leader said.
