On June 15 in Ukraine, a new project was launched under the United Nations Recovery and Peacebuilding Program, with financial support from the Netherlands, designed to improve public safety and access to justice in the Donbass.
This was reported on the eve by the press service of the UNDP.
“Five million dollars are allocated for the project entitled “Strengthening national and local capabilities for effective security, justice and reintegration services in the conflict-affected territories of Ukraine”. It will be implemented over the next three years and will last until the middle of the summer of 2022,” – the report said.
The main focus of the project will be directed on strengthening security and the rule of law, as well as strengthening social cohesion in the territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions controlled by the government of Ukraine.
To achieve these goals, close cooperation with local institutions, in particular with law enforcement agencies and other entities authorized to ensure the safety and well-being of local residents (for example, emergency response services), is provided.
