One of these days, parliamentarians can adopt the new Labor Code of Ukraine (Labor Code), Obozrevatel reported. The current one was adopted back in 1971, its standards, according to people's deputies, are outdated and require fundamental changes.

What will Ukrainians like?

A pleasant moment of the new bill is that it proposes to increase the next vacation by four days. That is, to make compulsory for rest not 24 days a year, as it is today, but 28 days.

However, they want to include seven or 10 “sick” days in the vacation. This is when a person can call and say that he/she is sick, is in a state of stress, or he is professionally burned out and wants to relax. Sick leave for these days will not be required from him/her.

Another nice point in the document is that its developers offer to pay compensation to employees upon dismissal. Its size is two salaries of a laid-off employee.

Yes, the bill also proposes to exempt employees up to 26 years old from paying income tax. They want to exempt from the payment of unified social tax and the employer, if he provides workers with additional benefits. For example, medical insurance, fare in public transport, and so on.

It is also planned to increase the working day, from 8 to 12 hours. But they want to increase it with the consent of the employee. In addition, for each processed hour they will pay in double size.

What employees will not like?

First of all, these are more opportunities for dismissal. Today you can fire a person for absenteeism, inconsistency with his position and the systematic failure to perform official duties.

They can still fire for theft and the appearance in the workplace in a drunken state. It is proposed to add to these grounds other reasons for dismissal: disclosure of trade secrets and refusal of vaccination.

Another of the unpleasant moments suggests removing the ban on the dismissal of pregnant women from the labor code. In addition, the employer will decide for himself whether to keep the job for the woman on the decree or not. This applies to people with disabilities, and participants in the ATO, and other beneficiaries.

The draft document has many other pleasant and not pleasant new features, but we will talk about them in more detail when the bill becomes the law of Ukraine.
