In the coming days, it is planned to erect a monument in Pokrovsk to the famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. Such a message was made on September 26 by the press service of the city council of Pokrovsk.
“The monument to the Great Kobzar (transl. itinerant player on a lute) will very soon appear on the central square of the city. The bronze part of the composition is already in Pokrovsk, which means that the event, which has been waited for almost 20 years, will take place in a matter of days!”- the message says.
According to the press service, now they are carrying out all the preparatory work at the place where the monument will be erected.
It should be recalled that on August 26, 2018, in Pokrovsk, near the entrance to the Yubileiny Park, a sculptural composition was installed, which is dedicated to Nikolai Leonovich, the composer, choral conductor, teacher, public figure, organizer of choral groups and the author of the famous melody “Shchedryk”.
