Volodymyr Groysman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, announced his intention to resign on Wednesday, May 22, after the government meeting. He made the corresponding statement during the briefing.
“I think that you all understand that the government resigns before the newly elected Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and not before the newly elected President. But at the same time, I made the decision for myself to resign immediately after the regular government meeting on Wednesday. I also want to emphasize that in the three years of work of our government I am absolutely not ashamed of what we have been able to do and how adequately we have responded to the challenges and crises we faced,” – the head of government said.
Today, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky during his inaugural speech said that the Cabinet should resign, "if it cannot do anything".
After Zelensky took office, the Prime Minister Groysman congratulated him and wished him success in serving the people of Ukraine.
We recall that Volodymyr Groysman headed the Ukrainian government since April 14, 2016.
