Already this autumn, coins with a face value of 5 UAH may appear in circulation. This was reported by Yakov Smoliy, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
“Now I’m not ready to say when the release began (coins - ed) 5 UAH. But I think this is expected in the autumn,” – he told reporters on Thursday.
Earlier, the NBU announced its intention to issue coins with a face value of 5 UAH in 2019, 10 UAH – in 2020.
We recall that the NBU from October 1, 2019 withdraws from circulation coins in denominations of 1, 2 and 5 kopecks. It will gradually withdraw from circulation a coin with a face value of 25 kopecks, but for now it will remain a means of payment.
