During a speech from the parliamentary rostrum, one of the leaders of the opposition, Alexander Vilkul, said: “Naftogaz continues its bullying. While you are splitting the country, information has come out that Naftogaz again raises the gas price for the population from June (plus 380 UAH / thousand cubic meters). This is despite the fact that on November 1, 2018, the price of gas has been already increased by 23.5% by the power, and since 2014 – by almost ten times. At the same time, people did not live a better life. Most of them barely make two ends meet. We demand that the Parliament immediately consider a petition to lower the price of gas, according to which it is prohibited for Naftogaz to raise the price”.
Addressing the pro-government deputies, the oppositionist added: “And do not tell the fable that it is impossible to reduce tariffs. Ukrainians should pay no more than 15% of their income for utilities, and not 60-80%, as it is now. What is needed is the political will to put an end to the corrupt schemes of Naftogaz, to abandon imported gas and to increase its production. And these are real steps that could have been taken “yesterday”.
