The number of student visas issued by the US has decreased

The number of visas for students from the United States has decreased most.

According to statistics, the number of visas that were issued to students for training in the US, in the past year decreased to 17%. The report on this appeared on the page The Wall, whose journalists refer to the data of the State Department.

2017 fiscal year ended on September 30. During this time, a total of 393.5 thousand visas of F-1 type for foreign students were issued in the US. This is 78 thousand less than in the 2016 fiscal year and about 40% less than in 2015. Most of all, the number of visas issued to students from India was reduced. The number of visas for students from China decreased at about 24%. At the same time, Chinese students can apply for a visa for a period of five years, and not only for a one-year period, as it was before.

Over the past year, the total number of issued student visas was 268.5 thousand for students from Asia, 57.4 thousand from Europe, 27,000 from Latin America, 21,000 from Africa, 15,000 from Canada and Mexico and 3.2 thousand – from the countries of Oceania.
