The average cost of repairing 1 km of roads in Ukraine is about 20 million UAH.
This was reported by Andrey Martens, the ex-adviser of the head of Ukravtodor.
“The average cost of repairs is about 20 million UAH per 1 km,” – he said.
According to Martens, in order to restore the main roads of the country it is necessary to allocate about 200 billion UAH annually.
“Thus, if we assume that that we need to repair 10 thousand km of roads per year, then we will need at least 200 billion a year to restore our roads,” – he said.
As was reported by UNIAN, earlier Alexander Kava, the adviser of the head of Ukravtodor had stated that 94% or 160 thousand km of state and local roads are used over specified standards in Ukraine, and in order to bring them into proper condition it is necessary to repair at least 10-12 thousand km per year.
Vladimir Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure reported that this year about 4-5 thousand km of roads of national importance could be repaired in Ukraine. According to Omelyan, financing of the road sector in 2018 will be about 50 billion UAH.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has launched the program “500-500-1000” within the framework of road infrastructure development. The program provides for the construction of 500 traffic circles, 500 pedestrian islands and 1 thousand crosswalks.
The total length of Ukrainian roads, together with the road networks is about 430 thousand km.
According to the results of 2017, Ukravtodor repaired about 2.1 thousand km of roads, which is a record indicator for the last 5 years.
