This was stated by the World Health Organization, the UN News Center reports.

Over the first two months of this year alone, the WHO recorded 34,300 measles cases in 42 countries in Europe.

In general, over the past 14 months in 47 countries from 53 European regions, more than 100 thousand measles infection cases were recorded and there are more than 90 deaths from complications after the disease.

To help the countries which most affected by measles, the WHO decided to create a special operations center.

Under the new mechanism, the organization will help increase the level of immunization and restrain the spread of the disease.

Earlier we wrote that over the last week in the Donetsk region more than 80 measles cases were recorded.
