Residents of the Donbass are surrounded by snakes: what to do?

The main thing when meeting with a snake is not to behave aggressively. It's better to leave quietly.

When the residents saw two snakes in the basement of one of the houses on the Engineering Street in Konstantinovka a few days ago, they were in a panic. They were frightened and did not know what to do. Mechanically, they called the service 15-05, as they always do when something happens.

The person on duty recorded the signal and informed the deputy mayor Viktor Vasilenko. Viktor Vladimirovich sent inquiries to the appropriate authorities, but, he said, there were no answers yet.

The journalists of ZI decided to find out what citizens should do in this situation, as recently snakes can be seen even in city parks and squares of all cities of the Donbass. Not to mention that in cottages these dangerous reptiles already feel themselves masters.

Where to call when the danger is near? To rescuers, or to the State Emergency Service? But they are not engaged in catching of snakes, this is not part of their job, there are no such specialists in the state. Svetlana Velichko, the chief doctor of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, answered that the subordinate organization is engaged in the prevention of infectious diseases, but not in the struggle with snakes.

But Svetlana Leonidovna advised to apply to State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. The same advice was given to us by Alexander Filonenko, the head of the Environmental Inspection Department in the Donetsk region.

However, this service did not give the answer on the phone to the journalist. We sent a written request to A. V. Tuzov, the head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Donetsk region. As soon as we receive it, we will immediately inform our readers. For now, a few tips on what to do when seeing a snake.

According to experts, a snake does not want to bite you. It will bite when someone disturbs it, step on it or decides to touch it. A snake can attack a person if there is a nest with eggs next to it. In any case, do not respond to her aggression with aggression.

Better stand still and let it crawl away, or go away from it. A snake does not seek a meeting with a person. But if this happens, most likely, first it will stand still, then it crouch, it will try to make you pass by and not notice it.

Also, according to Elena Rudenko, the chief doctor of the Central District Hospital of Konstantinovka, there are several doses of the vaccine from the snake bite in the city's hospitals. So far, thank God, they did not come in handy.
