First locomotive of General Electric was brought to Ukraine

In total, 30 locomotives of this company's production are planned to be delivered to Ukraine.

General Electric Transportation sent the first locomotive GE TE33AC to Ukraine. In total it is planned to bring 30 locomotives of this brand.

The fact that the first locomotive had been delivered to the port of Chernomorsk was announced by the acting head of Ukrzaliznytsia Yevgeny Kravtsov, on his Facebook page.

“The first locomotive of General Electric arrived in the port of Chernomorsk. Tomorrow morning we will load the locomotive onto the rails,” – he writes.

The agreement, which was signed between Ukrzaliznytsya and GE in the amount of about $ 1 billion, provides for the renewal and modernization of traction rolling stock. The delivery of 30 main diesel locomotives to Ukrzaliznytsia is the first stage of the agreement.

At the same time, approximately 10% of the components of locomotive production under the contract should be localized on the territory of Ukraine. Thus, in the future the locomotives will be 40% of Ukrainian components. The cost of one locomotive is $ 4.7 million for each.
