According to Groysman, the Prime Minister, tariffs for gas for the population will be raised again. However, as the expert of the Institute of Energy Strategies Yuri Korolchuk said, this process could last for a whole year, Obozrevatel reports.
According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers can break the tariff increase by two stages, the first of which will happen in October.
“The compulsory increase in the price of gas to market prices was transferred three times already. Today, the market price paid by industry is 12-13 thousand UAH per thousand cubic meters. The population pays seven thousand UAH. Therefore, the IMF pressured to the bitter, so that the increase was to the level of 12 thousand UAH,” – Korolchuk said.
According to Korolchuk, if you want to raise the price by almost 100% - from 7 thousand to 13 thousand UAH, then, perhaps, the first increase to 8.5-9 thousand UAH will be already in October. The next stage of tariff increase should be in April, after the heating season is over. Then the price for gas will amount to 13 thousand UAH per thousand cubic meters.
At the same time, he noted that the April stage could be postponed due to the presidential elections.
“But in May, presidential elections should be held, and accordingly the April decision may be postponed. And this will already be the responsibility of the new president, or the new-old president, or the new government,” – the expert concluded.
