XXV championship of Ukraine at armsport was held in the city of Nemyriv in Vinnytsia region. 176 athletes from 24 regions of Ukraine took part in it.
The team of the Donetsk region was represented by six arm wrestlers from Mariupol. The most titled of them is Alexander Balandin, the international master of sport, the three-time winner of the European Championship who added two gold medals to our region’s collection.
Alexander was the best in wrestling on the left and right hands in the weight up to 60 kg, thus winning the title of the all round champion. The outstanding arm wrestler from the Donetsk region outbattled Alexander Rassokhin and Dmitry Gritsuk, the representatives of Zhytomyr and Rivne regions. They took respectively the second and third places on the honor roll.
It should be noted that the National Championship in Armsport became the qualifier for the European Championships which will be held from May 26 to June 2 in Sofia (Bulgaria) and the World Championships (October 15-21 in Antalya, Turkey).
