Dangerous disease is borne by mosquitoes, gadflies and other bloodsuckers

Doctors recorded a case of dirofilariasis in the Kharkov region.

This is reported by the Kharkov regional laboratory center of the Ministry of Health.

It is reported that a resident of Dergachevsky district had visited the doctors with complaints about the swelling in the thorax. During the surgical intervention, the doctors diagnosed her with “dirofilariasis”.

It is noted that the disease is borne through insect bites, and its sources can be either domestic cats or dogs, or wild animals. When infected, a helminth enters the human body, which lives under the skin and can reach considerable sizes. Doctors recommend installing mosquito nets and using repellents in order to be protected.

We recall that earlier Ulyana Suprun, Acting Minister of Health, had proposed to cancel the diagnosis of “vegetative-vascular dystonia”.
